About Us:
Friends of Boxford Boy Scout Park, Inc. is a Massachusetts not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation. Its
primary purpose is to facilitate fund raising for the preservation of the property known as Boy Scout
Park in Boxford, Massachusetts.
About the Park:
For over 50 years the Park has served as base camp for scouting in the town of Boxford. In 1952,
Dunbar Lockwood and Stephen Palmer donated the property, then a gravel pit used during the
construction of interstate route 95, for the benefit of scouting in Boxford. The scouts began improving
the property by planting trees and adding a log-sided cabin to the property for scout meetings and
equipment storage. Through the years Boy Scout Park has come to symbolize the spirit of Scouting in
Boxford. Thousands of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Venture Crew Scouts from Essex
County and beyond have participated in countless events held at the 14 acre woodlot. In addition to the
cabin, the park maintains a brookside amphitheatre with a fire ring, a central field for numerous activities
and more than 14 rustic woodland camp sites. The Park routinely hosts visiting troops and their leaders
from near and far. The public also enjoys access to the Park's walking paths which provide a link to the
areas Bay Circuit Trail. The Park is maintained by a network of scouts and adult volunteers. Please
view the photo page for pictures of the facilities.
